Porsche devotees are known across the globe for their deep passion for the brand, and for some, that love continues even after their lifetime. In one such moving story from the United Kingdom, a terminally ill Porsche admirer expressed his wish to make his final journey in a Porsche—and a compassionate funeral director ensured that dream came true.

According to reports from The Grimsby Telegraph, Jason Threadgold and his wife Nicola, who operate a funeral home in northern Lincolnshire, Great Britain, were approached by a grieving mother who had recently lost her son. Before his passing, the young man had made a heartfelt request: he wanted his final ride to the crematorium to be in a Porsche.

Although Porsche has diversified its range over the years to include sedans and SUVs, one thing you won’t find at a dealership or even at a Bring a Trailer auction is a Porsche hearse. But that challenge didn’t deter the Threadgolds.

Porsche Centre Hull came forward to provide a Taycan GTS Sport Turismo as the base vehicle. However, converting it into a hearse required far more than just its generous luggage space. Jason Threadgold dedicated several days to constructing a custom internal support frame within the wagon. A specialist hearse manufacturer contributed by crafting the wooden elements, while rollers and other fittings necessary to hold a casket securely were installed. Once the transformation was complete, the result was one of the most distinctive Porsches ever created—likely also among the fastest hearses in existence, courtesy of the Taycan’s 690-horsepower electric powertrain.

The finished Taycan hearse reportedly surpassed the family’s expectations; they were said to be “over the moon” upon seeing the final result. The ceremony itself resembled more of a Porsche club meet-up than a conventional funeral. Interestingly, this wasn’t the first such request—the Threadgold family mentioned that they’ve since received several similar inquiries from other Porsche enthusiasts eager for such a distinctive farewell. This growing interest inspired them to invest in the Taycan conversion, and they anticipate that this one-of-a-kind hearse will continue to serve many Porsche-loving families in the years to come.
