New Delhi, 07 July 2026: In football, Belgium defeated the USA 4–1 in the round of 16 match in Seattle to secure their place in the quarterfinals. An early goal from Charles de Ketelray and a third from Hans Vanaken gave Belgium a commanding lead, with Romelu Lukaku scoring the final goal in the dying moments. Meanwhile, Malik Tillman scored the only goal for the USA in the first half. Belgium will now face Spain in the quarter-finals at the Los Angeles Stadium on Friday.

Earlier, Spain entered the quarter-finals by defeating Portugal 1-0 in the round of 16 match at Dallas Stadium last night. Mikel Merino won by scoring a goal in the first minute of stoppage time during the second half. Meanwhile, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that he will not return for the next FIFA World Cup following his country’s defeat in the Round of 16. This is the first time that Spain has reached the quarter-finals since winning their only World Cup title in South Africa in 2010.

Defending champion Argentina faces Egypt in the second round of 16 match tonight in Atlanta. This match will start at 9:30 pm Indian time.
