The Uttar Pradesh government is set to provide a significant benefit to 2.70 lakh students. It is reported that on July 8, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will transfer ₹1,200 directly into the guardians' accounts of these students via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This marks the first phase of the initiative, covering 2.70 lakh students already registered on the portal. The scheme was originally launched in 2021, and some new changes have recently been introduced.

Under this scheme, students in classes 1 through 8 at council schools in Budaun district are set to benefit; a total of 2.70 lakh students have been registered. Preparations for the DBT process have been completed across 2,159 council schools in the district for the current academic session.

**Previously ₹1,100 was provided**
The Yogi government's ambitious scheme was launched in November 2021. Initially, students received ₹1,100, transferred directly to their guardians' accounts. These funds were intended for purchasing two sets of uniforms, shoes and socks, a sweater, and a school bag. Starting from the 2022-23 academic session, the amount was increased by ₹100, raising the total to ₹1,200.

Now, ₹1,200 is transferred directly to the students' accounts via DBT. The additional ₹100 is provided to enable students to purchase stationery, ensuring they do not face any difficulties in their studies.

**Which students will receive the benefit?**
The ₹1,200 benefit is currently being provided to students whose data has been fully verified. For students recently admitted, verification of their Aadhaar and bank account details is still pending; they will receive the funds in a subsequent phase once the necessary paperwork is completed. This information was provided by the District Basic Education Officer.
