EPFO Update: Government Indicates PF Interest Credit Timeline; Here's When You May Be Able to Check Your Updated Balance

Millions of Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) subscribers may soon see their annual interest reflected in their accounts. The government has indicated that the interest amount for the financial year 2025-26 is expected to be credited after July 15, 2026, bringing welcome news for nearly 34 crore EPF account holders.

Once the interest is credited, subscribers will be able to verify their updated EPF balance using multiple official platforms, including the UMANG App, the EPFO Member Portal, or by using the missed call and SMS services linked to their registered mobile numbers.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has already received approval for the 8.25% annual interest rate for the financial year 2025-26. Following the government's approval, the process of crediting interest into individual EPF accounts is expected to be completed after July 15, 2026.

Once the credit process is completed, the updated balance will automatically appear in members' provident fund accounts. Subscribers are not required to submit any separate application or request for receiving the annual interest.

The interest will be credited to eligible EPF members whose accounts remain active under EPFO during the applicable financial year.

The credited amount depends on:

• The total EPF balance maintained during the financial year.
• Monthly contributions made by both employee and employer.
• The applicable annual interest rate declared by EPFO.
