The company has introduced two new models named GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini which will replace the old Advanced Voice Mode. At the same time, OpenAI says that the new system continuously listens and understands you instead of responding intermittently during the conversation. This does not break the flow of conversation and gives the user a more real experience.
The biggest feature of GPT-Live is its full-duplex architecture. That means AI can listen to you and respond at the same time. Like the old system, it does not wait for you to finish speaking. During the demo, GPT-Live simultaneously translated into Hindi while listening to the presenter and also continued the conversation. Not only this, when needed, it hands over research, search and complex tasks in the background to models like GPT-5.5, while the conversation with the user continues. It can also show visual cards on topics like weather, stocks and sports.

OpenAI has confirmed that GPT-Live is being rolled out to all ChatGPT users on iOS, Android, and the web. Go, Plus, and Pro users will get GPT-Live-1 by default, while free users will be able to use GPT-Live-1 mini. The company has also added additional safeguards to self-harm, violence, mental health and safety of teenage users.
