Lifestyle Desk – Everyone likes the company of drizzling monsoon rain and hot pakodas. But if you are bored of eating gram flour pakodas every time, then try something new this time. Today we are telling you an easy recipe of very crunchy and delicious onion pakodas made from rice flour. The combination of onion, green chillies and some special spices in rice flour increases the taste of these pakodas manifold. These pakodas are crispy from outside and soft from inside, which after eating once, everyone will request to make them again and again. Let us know its recipe.

Material

Rice flour-1 cup
Large Onions – 2 (thinly and coarsely chopped)
Green chillies – 2–3 (finely chopped)
Finely chopped coriander – 2 tbsp
Ginger-1 tsp (grated)
Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp
Turmeric-1/2 tsp
Celery-1 tsp
Cumin-1/2 tsp
salt-as per taste
Oil 2–3 tbsp hot
water as per need
oil for frying

Method

  1. First of all, put chopped onion, green chilli, green coriander, ginger and salt in a big vessel and leave it for 5 minutes, so that the onion releases some water.
  2. Now add rice flour, red chilli, turmeric, celery and cumin and mix well. Add 2–3 tbsp hot oil. This makes the pakodas more crunchy.
  3. Prepare a thick mixture by adding little water as per requirement. The mixture should not be very thin. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
  4. Drop the prepared mixture into the oil in small portions with the help of hands or spoon. Fry the pakodas on medium flame until they become golden and crisp on both sides.
  5. Take out the prepared pakodas on tissue paper, so that the excess oil gets removed.

Special trick of crispy pakodas

  1. Adding a little hot oil to the mixture makes the pakodas more crispy.
  2. Always fry the pakodas on medium flame. On high flame they will cook quickly from outside but may remain raw from inside.
  3. By letting the mixture rest for 5-10 minutes, the rice flour gets set well and the pakodas become better.
  4. Enjoy these delicious rice and onion pakodas with hot tea, green chutney or tomato sauce.
