England booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals after staging a dramatic comeback to defeat Norway 2-1 after extra time in an enthralling quarter-final at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Jude Bellingham emerged as England's hero, scoring both goals, including the decisive strike in extra time, as the Three Lions kept their dream of World Cup glory alive.

Norway, playing in their first FIFA World Cup this century, shocked England by taking the lead in the 36th minute. Andreas Schjelderup capitalised on a defensive mistake to give the Scandinavian side a deserved advantage after an impressive first-half display.

England responded just before the break when Bellingham calmly finished in stoppage time to level the score at 1-1, ensuring the teams went into halftime on equal terms.

The second half produced end-to-end football, with both sides creating promising opportunities. Norway briefly thought they had restored their lead after Leo Ostigard's delivery resulted in the ball finding the net, but VAR ruled out the goal after Erling Haaland was judged to have committed a foul during the build-up.

England were also denied a potential match-changing moment in extra time. Djed Spence initially won a penalty, but after reviewing the incident on the pitch-side monitor, the referee overturned the decision, ruling that Spence had initiated the contact with Oscar Bobb.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 93rd minute. Morgan Rogers fired a powerful long-range shot that Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland could only parry, allowing Bellingham to react quickest and convert the rebound to complete his brace.

Norway continued to fight until the final whistle, with Antonio Nusa, Patrick Berg and Oscar Bobb all threatening an equaliser. However, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made several crucial saves, while defenders John Stones and Marc Guehi produced vital blocks to preserve the lead.

England also had chances to extend their advantage through Bukayo Saka and Djed Spence, but Nyland made two excellent saves to keep Norway's hopes alive.

The victory sends England into their fourth FIFA World Cup semi-final, keeping alive hopes of lifting their first World Cup trophy since 1966. They will now face defending champions Argentina for a place in the final.
