One of these common problems is ants getting into sugar bins. Due to increased moisture in the environment during rains, ants become increasingly attracted towards food items, especially sweet items.
Many times, ants enter even a well closed container, which not only spoils the sugar but also makes it difficult to maintain cleanliness. Use bay leaves and cloves
Ants stay away from things with strong smell. Place 2-3 bay leaves or a few cloves in or around the sugar box. Their fragrance helps in keeping ants away. Keep changing them from time to time so that their fragrance remains intact.
Cinnamon powder is also effective
Ants do not like the strong smell of cinnamon. Sprinkle a little cinnamon powder around the cupboard or box that stores sugar. This prevents ants from coming to that place. Keep in mind that cinnamon should not be mixed directly with sugar.
Always keep the box completely dry
During the rainy season, moisture is the biggest reason which attracts ants and other insects. Before storing sugar, ensure that the container is completely dry. Keeping sugar in a wet or damp container can worsen the problem.
Use airtight containers
Always store sugar in a good quality airtight container. This not only prevents moisture from going inside but also makes it difficult for ants to reach the box. If possible, check the lid seal periodically.
Keep cupboards and kitchen clean
Fallen sugar or sweet substances in the kitchen are the first to attract ants. Therefore, clean the kitchen platform, cupboards and storage areas regularly. If sugar spills anywhere, clean it immediately. Cleanliness greatly reduces the chances of ants coming in.

Mix equal amounts of white vinegar and water and clean kitchen surfaces and sugar storage areas. The smell of vinegar is uncomfortable for ants and also hinders their entry.
Lemon peels are also useful
Keeping dried lemon peels near the sugar box or in the cupboard also keeps ants away. Apart from this, cleaning the kitchen with lemon juice also gives good results.
Keep these things in mind
1- After taking out the sugar, immediately close the lid of the box.
2- Instead of keeping the sugar box on the floor, keep it at a high and dry place.
3- Regular cleaning of the kitchen and control moisture during the rainy season.
4-If ants are coming again and again, try to identify their entry route and close it.
