15 Indian tourists died when a tourist boat capsized near Phu Quoc island in Vietnam. Middle East expert Wael Awwad has raised questions about going into the sea despite warnings. A survivor described the horrific moments of the accident.

New Delhi [भारत]July 12 (ANI): Middle East expert Wael Awwad has expressed condolences to the victims of the Vietnam boat disaster and their families. Speaking to ANI, Awwad said that when warnings are being issued in countries like China, people should avoid going into the sea.

He said, "This is a very tragic tragedy at sea, especially at a time when there were storm warnings in the region and China has evacuated more than two million people. Indonesia, China and all the countries affected. I don't understand how these people can go into the sea. There were warnings not to go there. My deepest sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones. I think this is a huge tragedy for people who wanted to celebrate."

Survivor narrated his horrifying ordeal

An Indian survivor of a boat accident near Phu Quoc island in Vietnam recalled the horrifying moments when the tourist boat capsized within seconds due to a 'sudden storm'. He said rescue teams acted quickly, but medical facilities on a nearby island should have been better, which might have saved some lives. A tourist speedboat capsized with 36 people on board, including 32 Indian tourists. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam later confirmed that all 15 people killed in the crash were Indian tourists.

Speaking to ANI, Nirmal Kumar, who survived the accident, said that the boat had 32 passengers on board and was sailing from one island to another when it was hit by bad weather. He said, "While we were sailing from one island to another, suddenly there was a storm. Suddenly within a second the boat turned upside down. We were on the forward side and jumped into the sea and came out. The people who were inside got trapped, and since the boat was upside down, they could not come out of the boat. We were thirty-two people on the boat, but in total we were one hundred and five people." (ANI)
