New Delhi .India’s much-awaited bullet train project is now moving towards its final phase and the country is going to get a historic gift next year. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that India’s first bullet train will start operating from August 15, 2027. The first phase of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor will start from Surat to Bilimora. After this, the project will be extended to Vapi Ahmedabad Thane and finally to the entire Mumbai Ahmedabad route in a phased manner.
This project is not just the beginning of a new train but is considered to be the biggest step of technological change in the transport history of India. After complete preparation, this bullet train will run at a speed of 320 kilometers per hour. With this, the journey of passengers will become many times faster and more convenient than before. According to the Railway Ministry, about 80 percent of the construction work of the project has been completed and the remaining work is progressing rapidly.
The total length of Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor is 508 kilometers. Modern technology, state-of-the-art security systems and world-class infrastructure are being used in this project. With the introduction of Bullet Train, the travel time between the two metros will be significantly reduced, which will also give new impetus to trade, industry, tourism and investment. Experts believe that this project will play an important role in strengthening India’s economic activities.
The Railway Minister also gave information about the redevelopment works of railway stations. He said that rejuvenation of 261 railway stations across the country is being done at a rapid pace. Giving the example of Secunderabad Railway Station, he said that it is a big challenge to prepare a station equipped with modern facilities without stopping the train operations, but Indian Railways is completing it successfully. The new stations will be equipped with airport-like facilities and modern passenger services.
The Railway Minister also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved three high speed rail corridors for the Hyderabad region. These include high speed rail projects from Pune to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Chennai and Hyderabad to Bengaluru. After the completion of these projects, high speed rail network will be developed in South India which will create new opportunities for industry, trade and employment. This is being considered a big step towards making Hyderabad a major high speed rail hub of the future.
The Bullet Train project in India is not only going to become a medium of fast travel but also the new identity of modern India. This will increase self-reliance in railway technology, will give new energy to the construction sector and will provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of people. If other high speed rail corridors also develop at the same pace in the coming years, India will be among the few countries in the world where state-of-the-art bullet train network will be available. This project will take the country’s infrastructure to new heights and will also set a new pace of development and progress.
