Madonna is celebrating a major career milestone after her new album returned her to the top of the Billboard 200 chart for the first time in over two decades.
The Queen of Pop marked the achievement on Instagram Monday, sharing promotional photos from the album rollout alongside an emotional message thanking her fans and team. “Words cannot express how grateful and surprised I am by the incredible reception Confessions on a Dance Floor has received,” she wrote.
She went on to credit the people around her for helping the milestone happen. “Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this and who has helped make this dream come true. Especially my fans,” she said. “The goodwill and positivity have been incredible.”
Madonna admitted she was still processing the news of the chart-topping debut. “I am still pinching myself. I can not believe it is #1 all around the world. My dream was to make people dance this summer!! To bring people JOY!” she wrote, adding, “Dreams do come true. Thanks, and love!”
The achievement extends a chart legacy that stretches back more than 40 years. Madonna first hit Number One on the Billboard 200 with 1984’s Like a Virgin, and this latest release marks her tenth chart-topping album in the US. With this milestone, she becomes only the fourth act in history to score 10 Number One albums on both the Billboard 200 and the Hot 100 singles chart, putting her in the same company as the Beatles, Taylor Swift, and Drake, according to Billboard.
