Noida Fire Accident: Such a heart-wrenching news has come out from Mamura area located in Sector-66 of Noida, adjacent to Delhi, which has created an uproar in the entire area. What started as a normal day on Wednesday suddenly turned into a cloud of screams and black smoke. The massive fire that broke out in a five-storey residential building here took a huge form in no time. In this horrific accident, a 26-year-old girl and a man died painfully due to suffocation, while two other people are fighting between life and death. When this accident happened, more than 50 families were present inside the building, whose breathing got stuck due to the poisonous smoke spread in the air.

That horrifying scene at midnight: When the smoke spread like death

Usually, vehicles were parked on the ground floor of this 'G-Plus-Four' (G+4) multi-storey building in Mamura village. According to eyewitnesses, the flames that suddenly started from the ground floor took a huge form within a few moments. Since there was no basement in the building, the poisonous and black smoke rising from the parking area started spreading rapidly towards the upper floors through the stairs. The people sleeping inside the room and busy in their daily activities did not even get a chance to recover. About 12 rooms and flats on each floor were filled with smoke to such an extent that people started suffocating. People ran towards the windows to save their lives and started shouting for help.

Rescue from the edge of death: 50 lives saved by stairs and windows

As soon as information about the accident was received, there was panic in the fire department and the local police department. Joint Commissioner of Gautam Buddha Nagar Rajiv Narayan said that the fire service team reached the spot without wasting any time. Relief and rescue operations started on war footing:

  • Hydraulic platforms and 7 fire engines were deployed to control the fire and rescue the trapped people.
  • The firemen displayed bravery and placed iron stairs from the building opposite the burning building.
  • Many people, distraught due to suffocation, were pulled out through the windows.

After much effort, almost all the residents were evacuated safely, but the condition of two people who were exposed to the poisonous smoke was very critical. He was immediately sent to the district hospital by ambulance, where doctors declared him dead. The condition of two other injured admitted in the hospital also remains critical.

The truth that has come out in the initial investigation is going to alert everyone. According to the Joint Commissioner, an electric vehicle (EV) was put on charge in the ground floor parking. During charging suddenly a short circuit occurred and a spark occurred. This spark reached other petrol-powered vehicles parked nearby. As soon as the fire came in contact with the petrol tanks, it gained momentum with a bang and the entire parking lot became a ball of fire.

Law's noose: Owner and leaseholder in custody

This tragic negligence took the lives of two innocent people and put dozens of lives at risk. Taking this matter seriously, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections at Phase-3 police station. Fixing the responsibility for this tragic accident, the police immediately took into custody both the owner and the leaseholder of the building. Now it is being investigated whether there were strong fire safety arrangements in this multi-storey building or whether the lives of more than 50 families were put at risk by keeping the rules aside in the greed of a few rupees.

What did the Joint Commissioner tell?

Gautam Buddha Nagar Joint Commissioner Rajeev Narayan said that as soon as information about the fire was received, the fire service team reached the spot in minimum time. He said that the building where the fire broke out is a G+4 structure, where about 50 families live. The building did not have a basement, rather parking was made on the ground floor. The fire and smoke spread upwards from here, affecting the people living on the upper floors. He also said that about five families live on each floor and about 12 rooms were developed as two-room flats.
