Karl Darlow has completed his move from Leeds United to Manchester United after turning down a contract renewal offer from the Elland Road club.

Leeds United had proposed new terms to the 35-year-old Wales international but were unable to assure him of a starting position, with the club planning to bring in another goalkeeper this summer. Consequently, Darlow opted to make the switch to Old Trafford.

In a farewell post on social media, Darlow expressed gratitude to his team-mates, coaches, staff, and fans. He mentioned being proud of helping Leeds earn promotion and then secure their Premier League status, adding that he would continue to follow the club from a distance while wishing them future success.

Given the historic rivalry between the two clubs across the Pennines, his message might not be warmly received by all sections of the Leeds fanbase.

In an official statement, Manchester United described Darlow as proud to join a talented group of goalkeepers and eager to raise the standards at a club known for its high expectations. The club called his arrival a special opportunity during an exciting phase.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox, in the same statement, highlighted Darlow’s skill, professionalism, and determination, describing him as a strong and experienced addition to United’s goalkeeping department.
