IND vs ENG ODI Series: A 3-match ODI series is being played between India and England. At present, both the teams are tied at 1-1 in the series because in the second match, Team India had to face defeat by 4 wickets. Yes, according to the report of The Indian Express, the selectors have made it clear to Rohit Sharma that he is no longer a part of their future plans.
Since the focus of the selectors is now on the ODI World Cup of 2027, young players can be given a chance. In such a situation, now Rohit can be seen playing his last ODI match at Lord’s ground. Which is going to happen on 19th July.
1. The third match of the India-England ODI series could become the last match of Rohit Sharma’s ODI career. Although, no official announcement has been made on this yet, but according to reports the selectors have made their stand clear regarding the future.
2. According to the report, the selection committee now wants to make the team keeping in mind the 50-over World Cup to be held in 2027. Under this scheme, emphasis is being laid on giving continuous opportunities to young players. Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal are being considered an important part of the future team, who have been waiting for a long time to get regular opportunities in ODIs.
3. According to the report of The Indian Express, the BCCI Senior Selection Committee has made it clear to Rohit Sharma that he is not a part of the future plans after the England tour.
4. A senior source in the board said, “The selectors have clearly told Rohit Sharma that he is not a part of their plans after the England tour and the team is going to move ahead after this series. However, Rohit wanted to continue playing after getting himself fully fit, but the selectors have left the final decision to him as to how he wants to announce his future. It is understood that Rohit Sharma had also talked to some top BCCI officials during the England series regarding this matter. And they were not at all happy with this decision.”
5. Rohit Sharma’s bat has not performed as expected on the England tour. In the first two ODI matches, he scored 11 and 26 runs respectively. Even during the second ODI, the lack of rhythm in his batting was clearly visible. He had to struggle continuously in timing the ball properly, due to which questions are being raised on his form.
