Gurudwara Style Kada Prasad Recipe: Whenever there is talk of Gurudwara, the name of Kadha Prasad definitely comes. It is so delicious that even the best sweets seem pale in comparison to it. Everyone likes this prasad which is hot, soft, aromatic and melts in the mouth, but many people complain that when we make it at home, we do not get the taste like Gurudwara.

Actually, the specialty of Kadha Prasad lies in its correct proportions and method of preparation. In the Gurudwara it is prepared in a very simple but balanced manner. The good thing is that if you remember the correct ratio then it can be made as delicious at home as in Gurudwara.

Ingredients for making Prasad

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup desi ghee
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups water

For traditional taste, the quantity of flour, ghee and sugar is kept equal.

Method of preparation

  • Heat water in a pan and add sugar in it and let it dissolve completely. Leave this mixture warm.
  • Heat desi ghee in a heavy bottom pan. When the ghee is hot, add wheat flour to it.
  • Fry the flour on low flame while stirring continuously until it turns golden brown. When a light aroma starts coming from it, then understand that the flour has been roasted well.
  • Now slowly add hot sugar water into the flour and keep stirring continuously so that lumps do not form.
  • Cook the mixture on low flame until it thickens and starts leaving the pan and light ghee starts appearing on top.
  • Switch off the gas and serve the Kadha Prasad hot with devotion.

Tips to enhance taste

  • Always use a heavy bottom pan.
  • Do not fry the flour in a hurry on high flame.
  • Add the water and sugar mixture while it is hot.
  • Keep stirring the mixture continuously throughout, this makes the Prasad soft and shiny.

Why does Prasad spoil?

Many times people add less ghee in the Prasad or add very little water, due to this the Prasad can become dry and sometimes hard. At the same time, if water is used more than required then the Prasad becomes very thin. Therefore it is important to take care of the correct proportions. Apart from this, less roasted flour also spoils the taste. In such a situation, the Prasad tastes raw. The correct ratio for Kadha Prasad is 1-1-1 of flour, sugar and water.
