Juventus are said to be looking into a move for Lucas Chevalier, only 12 months after the French goalkeeper joined Paris Saint-Germain, as the Italian club keeps searching for a long-term answer in goal.

Goalkeeper search set to shape Juventus’ transfer window

Goalkeeper dealings are expected to dominate the final weeks of Juventus’ transfer window. After failing to be fully convinced by Michele Di Gregorio, the Turin side are broadening their search for a new No. 1, with Chevalier the latest name to come into the discussion, according to Foot Mercato. That interest comes alongside their continuing attempts to land Emiliano Martinez and Guglielmo Vicario — two targets that have so far been anything but simple for sporting director Frederic Massara to secure.

At 24, Chevalier still has four years left on his current contract in Paris, where he is tied down until 2030, which suggests Juventus may have to pay a significant fee if they decide to make a serious approach.

Transfer race could open up for Japanese keeper

The chase for Chevalier is made more complicated by the fact that Juventus and PSG are both keeping tabs on Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki at the same time. The Japanese international has impressed in Serie A, and that has put the two European heavyweights on a possible collision course in the transfer market. This shared interest could also trigger a chain reaction; if PSG manage to sign Suzuki, it could clear the path for Chevalier to move to Turin, although the competition for the Parma player remains difficult to predict.

Mixed first season in Paris

Chevalier’s possible exit comes just a year after he completed a headline move to PSG from Lille for €40 million in the summer of 2025, in what has turned out to be a very mixed first season in the French capital. The young goalkeeper arrived with the clear label of a future first-choice keeper, but he struggled to keep his momentum going.

As the demanding season went on, the Frenchman gradually lost his place in the starting XI to Russian international Matvey Safonov. His situation was made even more difficult by a badly timed injury picked up shortly before the World Cup, which ruled him out of competitive action for several weeks and eventually stopped him from featuring in the tournament at all.

Juventus’ busy summer under Spalletti

Juventus’ search for reinforcements has gone far beyond the goalkeeper role this summer, with their attacking rebuild taking several different shapes in recent weeks. In particular, Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly given his initial approval to a loan return to Serie A, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. New football director Ricky Massara, who had earlier tried to sign the Dutchman for Roma, is believed to be pushing the interest, even though Zirkzee has found regular football hard to come by in England, with just 19 starts in 68 Premier League appearances.

Along with the Zirkzee talks, Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali is working to complete a deal for PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani, but the two clubs are still about €10 million apart, with Carnevali’s €40 million bid falling short of PSG’s asking price.
