Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday interacted with senior writers and litterateurs from across the state at the Chief Servant Sadan of the Chief Minister Camp Office in Dehradun. During this, the litterateurs presented their respective books to the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister personally met all the writers, inquired about their well-being and discussed in detail their literary works and current writings.
The Chief Minister said that litterateurs are not only the mirror of the society, but they are also the guides who show the right direction to the society. He said that the role of litterateurs is very important in preserving the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand, strengthening social consciousness and the overall development of the state. He said that the state government is continuously working to create a better literary environment in the state and to encourage writers, so that the new generation can also connect with literature.

The Chief Minister said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has been the penance and work place of many sages including Maharishi Ved Vyas. This land has given many great writers who have enriched Indian literature. He said that developing the habit of study and writing among the youth is the need of the hour and for this, all sections of the society will have to make joint efforts.
The Chief Minister said that through Uttarakhand Language Institute, the old, scattered and till now unpublished literature of the state is being collected, preserved and published. Along with this, work is also underway on a plan to develop two literary villages in the state with the aim of making Uttarakhand a major center of literary tourism. He said that to honor the writers, 'Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman' has been started in the year 2022 and 'Long Term Sahitya Sevi Samman' has been started in the year 2025.

On the occasion of Harela festival, the Chief Minister also extended his support to the '1000 book donation campaign' being run by Rudraprayag district administration. During the 'Dialogue with Writers' programme, he announced to personally purchase 50 books of the present writers and make them available to the public library of Rudraprayag.

A book collection campaign is being conducted on the theme “One Book, One Tree, One Bright Future” for the public library in Rudraprayag. Praising this initiative, the Chief Minister said that books are a strong foundation of knowledge, values and positive thinking in the society. He said that such initiatives will promote the culture of book donation and will also strengthen the habit of reading among the youth.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Media Advisory Committee, Prof. Govind Singh, former Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, former Director General of Police Anil Raturi, Secretary Ranveer Singh Chauhan, District Magistrate Nainital Lalit Mohan Rayal and many senior litterateurs and distinguished citizens of the state were present. Among these, Prof. Many litterateurs including Sudha Rani Pandey, Alok Lal, Buddhinath Mishra, Prem Kumar Sahil, Shiv Mohan Singh, Ram Mohan Singh, Neha Negi, Kulbhushan Kane, Anmol Jain, Rupa Soni, Amar Kharbanda, Sheeshpal Gusain, Ramakant, Divesh Joshi, Prabha Pant, Ruby Gupta and Randhir Kumar Arora were included.
