Jadon Sancho is right now considering his future options after his difficult stint at Manchester United officially ended in June. Reports say the winger has been given a fresh start in Qatar by Al-Rayyan, who are keen to bring him in on a free transfer.

Qatari giants target English star

Former Manchester United forward Sancho is being pursued by Qatari club Al-Rayyan as he looks for a new permanent home, according to Foot mercato.

The 26-year-old is now officially a free agent after his contract at Old Trafford ran out, and the Middle Eastern club are eager to take advantage of his availability to strengthen their attack.

Al-Rayyan have sent an offer to Sancho in an effort to tempt him to the Qatar Stars League. The Lions are among the most respected clubs in the region and feel the former Borussia Dortmund star could become the main face of their project.

Unhappy spell at United

Sancho joined United for a massive £73m fee in the summer of 2021, but he never really made himself a fixed name in the starting XI under different managers.

His relationship with the club grew more and more tense, and he was eventually sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa. Even with his clear talent, the London-born winger struggled to adjust to the tactical demands of the Premier League.

Limited role at Villa

During the 2025-26 campaign, Sancho spent time on loan at Villa, where he had a supporting role in a historic season for the Midlands club. While he contributed to Unai Emery’s side winning the Europa League trophy, he was not a regular starter and was named in the line-up for only 18 of his 39 appearances across all competitions.

Rival interest and what lies ahead

The offer from Al-Rayyan comes at a time when Sancho is also being linked with an emotional return to Germany. Borussia Dortmund have long been said to be interested in bringing back their former hero on a permanent basis, which could give him a stage in a familiar league where he has already done well.

A move to the Qatar Stars League would see Sancho join a growing list of established European stars choosing a new challenge in the Gulf. For Al-Rayyan, signing a player of Sancho's stature would be a huge statement of intent as they aim to dominate domestic competition.
