Paris Saint-Germain have no plans to join the chase for Manchester City midfielder Rodri, according to Sky Sports.

Even so, the French club are content with their current midfield choices and are not planning any major signings in that department this summer.

They feel they already have one of the strongest midfield units in Europe, with Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves all playing key roles in last season’s historic campaign.

The trio started PSG’s Champions League final win and remain central to the club’s long-term plans. Warren Zaire-Emery is also waiting in the wings.

City are just as relaxed about the situation.

Rodri has one year left on his current contract, and the Premier League champions are keen to secure him on fresh terms rather than listen to bids.

The midfielder is currently out after undergoing minor back surgery and is expected to miss the start of the new season while he continues his recovery.

While PSG are not interested in pushing ahead with the move, Real Madrid are understood to be actively working on a transfer for Rodri after his superb performances at the World Cup.

Los Blancos regard the experienced midfielder as a priority target as they continue their policy of recruiting players who have won the World Cup Golden Ball.

Elsewhere, PSG had hoped to sign highly rated defender Yan Diomande before he opted for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Ligue 1 champions are not ready to get involved in another transfer fight with the Spanish giants.

A deal for Monaco playmaker Maghnes Akliouche is moving along well.

The Champions League holders are also expected to add to their attacking options before the transfer window shuts, with another striker on the recruitment list.

They must also decide what to do with Bradley Barcola, as Liverpool are pushing hard to sign him.
