India may have completed a clinical 3-0 sweep over Zimbabwe, but former India captain Kris Srikkanth isn't entirely convinced, especially when it comes to the middle-order batting.

In a pointed video on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth called on the BCCI to take a hard look at Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma, suggesting that Rajat Patidar deserves a chance in the T20I setup ahead of both.

Tilak Varma managed just 77 runs across the three-match series, with scores of 11, 60, and 6. While his 60-run knock in the second T20I was impressive, Srikkanth was unimpressed with his overall approach. "Once again, Tilak ate nine balls. He can't play fast for too long. Where is the consistency? What did he do in England? There will be one knock here and there," Srikkanth said.

He then made a strong case for Rajat Patidar, the RCB captain who has led his franchise to two consecutive IPL titles. "He is nothing compared to Rajat Patidar. If you want a real solid T20 knock, go to Patidar, give him a chance. Everyone is getting chances like Yash Thakur; give him a chance too," he added.

Abhishek Sharma also came under fire. The opener, who has struggled for consistency, has registered just 191 runs in his last ten innings with only one half-century. In his previous four outings, he was dismissed for single-digit scores. Srikkanth believes the left-hander has been "sorted out" since the T20 World Cup and called for a tough decision. "I think a tough call has to be taken against him now. I feel Sanju will get his chance again now," he said.

With India's next assignment being a Test series in Sri Lanka, both Tilak and Abhishek will likely get some time to regroup. But Srikkanth's message is clear: form can't be ignored, and Patidar's IPL credentials deserve a closer look at the international level.
