Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria has shown her unwavering commitment to clinching the gold medal after reaching the women's 57kg boxing final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Friday. She delivered an impressive performance, defeating Lesotho's Rapelang Maselela by Referee Stop Contest (RSC) in the semifinal, ensuring at least a silver medal for India.
Following her semifinal triumph, Lamboria expressed her determination to excel in the gold medal match. "I will give my all to win a gold medal for India tomorrow. I want to demonstrate the hard work and preparation that has gone into my campaign," she stated.
The reigning world champion, who previously defeated England's Elise Glynn to reach the semifinals, showcased her skills and controlled the match from the outset. Utilizing her height advantage effectively, Jaismine maintained her composure against Maselela's aggressive style, landing cleaner punches. Her precision and movement earned her a unanimous 5-0 score from the judges in the first round.
Continuing her strong performance in the second round, Jaismine unleashed powerful combinations that prompted the referee to issue a standing count against Maselela. With the Lesotho boxer struggling to keep up, Jaismine landed another series of significant punches, leading to additional standing counts. After the third standing count, the referee halted the contest, granting Jaismine a decisive RSC victory and securing her spot in the gold medal match.
India has now amassed a total of 19 medals in Glasgow, comprising five gold, nine silver, and five bronze.
The gold medals for India have been awarded to: Mirabai Chanu (women's 48kg weightlifting), Sharmila Dhankar (women's shot put F57), Dilip Gavit (men's 100m T47), Asmita Dey (women's 48kg judo), and Harsh Singh (men's 60kg judo).
India's silver medals have been secured by Rishikanta Singh, Muthupandi Raja, Gyaneshwari Yadav, Sarvesh Kushare, Valluri Ajaya Babu, Harjinder Kaur, Gulveer Singh, Murali Sreeshankar, Mohammed Basil, and Lovepreet Singh. The bronze medals have been claimed by Jhandu Kumar, Bindyarani Devi, Shilpa K Shyla, and Seema Kaliramna.
