Ram Kapoor left everyone stunned during the latest episode of Lock Upp 2 after revealing a secret that even his wife, Gautami Kapoor , and their children were unaware of. During the episode, he spoke about how despite doing several successful TV shows and films, he is always recognised for Bade Achhe Lagte Hain . However, he revealed that while the show was a huge success, he was going through the worst phase of his life. Ram shared that he was battling severe depression at the time and said it had turned him into a "monster."
While recalling the difficult time, Ram got emotional and shared, "27 saal se kaam kiya hai maine, itni filmein, itna kaam kiya hai maine. Phir bhi meri pehchaan ek show se hai Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. Main ek cheez puri duniya se chipaya hoon, meri biwi ko bhi nahi pata ye baat. Bade Achhe Lagte Hain ke dauran, I went through the worst depression of my life. Mujhe itna pyaar mila mere motape ki wajah se aur itni charcha hui ki main ratings mein highest-rated TV star ban gaya tha for a while. Aur main mota hota gaya, hota gaya."
He also mentioned that slowly his health started deteriorating and his doctors warned him of a diabetic stroke, "Mujhe mere doctor ne bola ke main itna unhealthy hogaya hoon ke main that I could die in six months. I could've had a diabetic stroke because I was on insulin three time a day. My blood sugar was 400,500, even over 600 plus. I worked for 14 hours a day."
He admitted that he never wanted to change because he was enjoying the fame, love and success that came with it. According to him, all of it made him overlook the impact it was having on his life. "I didn't want to do anything about it because I was getting so much and money. How could I walk away from all that?"
Ram reveals 'I became a very ugly person'He then made a shocking revelation that during while working on the show, he became a very ugly person and that the show shut down because of him. "I became a very, very ugly person. Main 6-6 ghanta late pahunchta tha shooting pe. Main set pe daaru peeta tha. Main logon se bahut bure tareeke se baat karta tha. I became a monster. Woh show mere wajah se band hogaya. I'd became such a human being that I'm ashamed of myself.
Looking back at the challenging phase of his life, Ram admitted, "I became a monster."
Ram said his children were his biggest source of strength during that difficult time. He shared that they gave him a reason to keep going and believes they were the ones who ultimately "saved" him. "Agar mere bacche nahi hote toh I would've done what Harshad had done. When we have kids, we live for our kids. We don't have the right to stop our lives because we were living for them. That's the only thing that saved me. It's the only reason I'm alive today."
He further revealed how he is now leading a happy life and apologised to his wife and kids, "Aur aaj 10 saal se zyaada hogaye hain, and I'm very happy as a human being. Gautami and my children are also going to be finding out this right now. I'm sorry guys," he said.
Ram and Gautami got married in a private ceremony on February 16, 2003. The two have been married for almost two decades and have two beautiful kids.
