Patna. The monsoon has once again become active in Bihar, and its impact is expected to change the weather in many parts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms in 19 districts for Friday. Orange alerts have been declared for six districts and yellow alerts for 13 districts. The department has appealed to the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines during bad weather.
According to the Meteorological Department, an orange alert has been issued for Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, and Arwal districts. These areas are expected to experience heavy rain and winds up to 40 kilometers per hour. Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in some places.
A yellow alert has been issued for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Patna, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, and Lakhisarai. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in these districts. Normal weather is expected in other districts of the state, although temperatures may rise in some places.
The Meteorological Department predicts that the rain will expand into northern and eastern Bihar in the coming days. On August 8th, heavy rain is possible in southeast Bihar, as well as in Katihar, Purnia, and West Champaran. On August 9th, the impact of the rain is expected to increase further in several districts of northern Bihar. Special caution has been advised regarding heavy rainfall in Araria, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul, and West Champaran.
Despite an active monsoon, Bihar has recorded less than normal rainfall so far this season. Available data shows the state has received approximately 37 percent less rainfall than average. Weather experts believe that the coming rains will provide some relief, but making up for the entire season’s rainfall deficit all at once will be difficult.
