
Another case of a training plane crash has come to light in Baramati near Pune. A training plane crashed near Baramati airport. It is a matter of relief that the trainee pilot on board the plane escaped safely. According to the information received, the plane was landing in the airport premises during a training flight on Sunday afternoon. The plane crashed on the ground while trying to land. There are no reports of any casualties in this accident. Meanwhile, questions have been raised about the security arrangements at Baramati airport due to frequent plane crashes. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash while landing at this airport.
Earlier, on May 13, 2026, a Redbird trainer aircraft crashed in the Gojubabi village limits near Baramati Airport. During the crash landing, a part of the aircraft hit an electric pole and fell to the ground. The only person on board the aircraft was a trainee pilot, who survived and was not seriously injured. It is reported that the aircraft developed a technical fault.
Meanwhile, in January 2026, five people, including the then Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar, died in a charter plane crash at Baramati airport. Ajit Pawar was flying from Mumbai to Baramati. The others killed in the crash included Captain Sumit Kapoor, who had 15,000 hours of flying experience, and co-pilot Captain Shambhavi Pathak, who had 1,500 hours of flying experience. Pawar’s personal security officer, Videep Jadhav, and flight attendant Pinky Mali were also on board the plane. The ill-fated Learjet 46 aircraft was operated by Delhi-based VSR Ventures.
