Zhu, was elderly and weak, and her only brother, Ping, was too young and inexperienced. Despite Mulan's love for her family and respect for tradition, she knew that her father would not survive the harsh realities of war. With a sad heart, Mulan decided to take on herself as a male and join her father's army, using the name "Ping."
Mulan experienced many obstacles while training with the other troops. She struggled to hide her identity while proving herself in war and with the harsh realities of military life. Mulan's secret identity was almost revealed several times, mainly when she made a close bond with her fellow troops, Captain Li Shang. Mulan must deal with the challenges of battle and the responsibilities placed on her as a warrior while facing an internal conlict between her duty to her family and her sense of identity.
When enemy forces unexpectedly attacked the imperial city, Mulan's bravery and cleverness were tested. Mulan exposed her true identity to her troops in a final battle, risking everything to save the emperor and defeat the invading army. Despite their horror at Mulan's lies, Captain Li Shang and the other troops soon acknowledged her bravery and hailed her as an equal. Mulan returned home to her family, who welcomed her with open arm and praised her courage and kindness. Mulan discovered on her journey that true power came from inside and that she could achieve everything she set her mind to, regardless of cultural expectations or gender standards.
