Income Tax Recruitment 2026: The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Region) has issued a notification for the recruitment of Canteen Attendants. A total of 7 Group-C posts will be filled through this recruitment drive. Interested candidates can apply from August 11 to August 31, 2026. Notably, no application fee will be charged to candidates from any category. Selection will be based on shortlisting, a written examination, a skill test, and document verification.
What are the application rules?
Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the Income Tax Canteen Attendant recruitment 2026. Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as of August 31, 2026. Applicants are required to have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board. This post falls under the Group-C, Non-Gazetted, and Non-Ministerial category. The selected candidate will undergo a probation period of 2 years.

Selection Process
Candidates for the Canteen Attendant post will be selected through three stages.
Shortlisting: 280 candidates will be shortlisted for the written examination based on the percentage of marks obtained in the 10th standard. This means 40 candidates will be selected for each post.
Written Examination: A 30-minute examination carrying 40 marks will be conducted. It will consist of 40 multiple-choice questions. Candidates with disabilities who avail the facility of a scribe will be allowed 40 minutes for the exam. Questions will cover English comprehension, Hindi comprehension, food and nutrition, mathematics, and hygiene/cleanliness. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The examination will be conducted solely in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Skill Test: Based on the written examination, 70 candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test. This test will also be held in Bhopal and will carry 60 marks. It will assess the candidates' proficiency in tasks such as beverage preparation, food handling, food preparation, presentation, and hygiene/cleanliness.
What is the salary?
Candidates selected for the post of Canteen Attendant in the Income Tax Department will receive a salary in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission. This post falls under Pay Level-1, with a pay scale ranging from ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 per month. Initially, candidates will receive a basic pay of ₹18,000. In addition, benefits such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other allowances applicable under Central Government rules will be provided.
