Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made a very sharp attack on Congress on the occasion of 'Partition Disaster Memorial Day' on Friday. He said that at that time the lust and greed for power had increased to such an extent that an eternal nation was torn into pieces.
CM Yogi said that due to this partition, crores of Hindus were forced to be displaced from their own motherland and birthplace. Lakhs of people of Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Jain communities were brutally massacred, but there was no one to listen to their voices during that dreadful period. He clarified that partition is not just an ordinary chapter of history, but it is one of the darkest chapters in the history of entire humanity. Partition Horrors Memorial Day inspires us to learn from the terrible mistakes of the past and never repeat them in the future.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath further said, “This day is providing us a great inspiration to learn a lot from those dark chapters of history, because mere remembering them is not going to provide permanent solution to any problem. Why did this problem arise, due to which people were responsible, how many culprits were punished and for how long will our India continue to pay a heavy price for it? All these questions are still standing in front of us with the same strength.”
CM Yogi said that history is not just a syllabus for examination, but history also gives an opportunity to be proud of glorious moments and correct the mistakes made in the past. He said that this is the basic feeling of Prime Minister Narendra Modi behind celebrating the Partition Horrors Memorial Day.
The Chief Minister stressed that there were two main reasons behind the enslavement of the country – first, mutual contradictions and second, division of the society on the basis of caste and region. Foreign conspiracies were also associated with these internal contradictions and those conspirators were completely successful, the final result of which was visible to all of us in the form of long slavery of the country.
Yogi Adityanath said that our society has not been able to fight unitedly with the feeling that if someone else is being attacked, then why should we speak. He said that the adverse effect of this indifferent thinking was that the country was enslaved and the united India since ancient times was torn into pieces.
He reminded that in the freedom struggle, great fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad and Rani Laxmibai had fought incomparably. The country that echoed the immortal mantra of “Swaraj is our birthright” ultimately had to pay a very heavy price for Partition.
CM Yogi made a direct allegation and said that those who were completely silent in 1947, had their eyes fixed only on the seat of power. They wanted to gain power at any cost at the cost of the country. He said that even today some political parties are continuously working to divide the society on the basis of caste and region for their vested interests.
He said that sometimes the society was divided in the name of Hindu-Sikh and sometimes in the name of caste and region. Its adverse effect was a weak India and innocent Indians had to pay the price of this partition with their lives. Referring to the atrocities being committed on Hindus in Bangladesh at present, he also targeted the opposition parties.
Yogi said that even on such sensitive matters, some political parties remain completely silent due to the fear of losing their vote bank. He alleged that those who consider power as their personal property and family inheritance always betray the country and promote anarchy and disorder in the society.
On this emotional occasion of Partition Horrors Memorial Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took out a long silent march of about half a kilometer from the statue of Sardar Patel at Hazratganj intersection in Lucknow to Lok Bhavan. Through this silent march, a heartfelt tribute was paid to the people who lost their lives during Partition and the families who suffered immense pain of displacement.
After reaching Lok Bhavan, the Chief Minister watched a special exhibition and short film based on the tragedy of Partition. Along with this, he also observed the live paintings made by the artists. CM Yogi personally met people of displaced families who came to India from Pakistan during Partition. During this meeting, senior members of the affected families shared their painful stories and experiences of that period.
