While walls get damaged due to dampness, kitchen utensils also get spoiled due to moisture. One of the biggest challenges is the salt getting sealed or moisture getting into it. Many times the salt sticks so much that it becomes difficult to remove it with a spoon. If you are also troubled by this problem, then you can keep your salt completely dry and fresh by adopting some simple smart hacks.
Actually, the biggest reason for this problem is the increase in moisture in the air. The particles present in the salt absorb this moisture, causing the salt to freeze and sometimes even release water, making it difficult to use. When the salt box is opened repeatedly, moisture gets inside every time, due to which the entire salt starts getting wet. If the box is not closed properly then this problem increases further.
Nowadays, in most of the houses, ordinary plastic containers or steel jars are used for salt. But during the rainy season, the lids of these containers are not completely airtight, due to which the moisture present in the atmosphere easily goes inside. Also, many people keep the salt box very near the gas stove for convenience while cooking. By doing this, the steam from the stove and the moisture near the sink directly affects the salt box. Therefore always keep the container away from the gas stove.
Using rice to protect salt from dampness is considered to be the oldest and most effective home remedy. Put 10-12 grains of raw rice in your salt box or salt pan. The rice grains themselves absorb the excess moisture inside the box and prevent the salt from getting wet. Apart from this, if you put 4 to 5 vertical cloves in the salt box, then the cloves not only absorb the moisture, but its fragrance also prevents any kind of insects or fungus from getting into the salt.
If you fold a small tissue paper or blotting paper and place it at the bottom and top of the salt box, this paper will immediately absorb the dampness generated inside the box. Due to which the salt does not get wet and remains dry for a long time.
