Pakistan has nominated two Mumbai Parsi doctors, Dr Jal Ratanji Patel and Dr Jal Dhaybho-Koo, for the Nishan-e-Imtiaz posthumously, minister Ahsan Iqbal announced. He said the doctors examined Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s X-ray in 1946 and kept his advanced tuberculosis confidential.

Pakistan has nominated two Indian Parsi doctors from Bombay, now Mumbai, for its highest civilian award for maintaining confidentiality over Pakistan founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah's terminal illness during the crucial period before Partition in 1947.

Physician Dr Jal Ratanji Patel and radiologist Dr Jal Dhaybho-Koo have been nominated posthumously for the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for their "quiet but extraordinary service" in ensuring that knowledge of Jinnah's illness remained confined to members of his inner circle.

Pakistan's Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, who heads the Awards Committee, announced the nominations.
