Manchester United forward Amad Diallo could reportedly face up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering an injury in training, in what comes as a major setback for the Red Devils. United began the new Premier League season with a 2-0 loss to Hull City on Saturday. Amad was not available for selection, and Red Devils manager Michael Carrick has now been handed a significant injury concern. Initial scans have already been conducted, but Manchester United are still waiting for further test results to get a clearer assessment.
That said, the early indications are not especially encouraging, and the winger could end up missing the whole of next month as well as part of October.
The Red Devils are back in action next Sunday when they welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford, and they are in urgent need of a return to winning ways.
They then face Everton, Manchester City and Fulham in September, followed by fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United, Bournemouth and Chelsea in October.
Carrick has strengthened his squad with the additions of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow, while Carlos Baleba is expected to arrive from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Manchester United manager will be hoping to add more firepower to his attack before the summer transfer window shuts, and Amad’s injury could push the board to act quickly.
The 24-year-old was an important player under Carrick last season, and he will be keen to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.
