Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has seriously accused the Central Government of betraying and reneging on the promises made to the youth. The party has said that the government is now retreating from fulfilling the agreement on the basis of which the nationwide movement was called off on July 25.

CJP has warned that if the government does not fulfill its promises, a peaceful movement will be started once again in the country.

Supreme Court's comments and government's stance

According to CJP's legal team and leaders, during the hearing held in the Supreme Court on August 18, the court had thrice asked the Central Government for the complete list of FIRs registered against students and protesters.

The Supreme Court wanted to use extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to quash all the cases at once, which would have simplified the process. The CJP said that despite the court's repeated requests, the central government did not give any clear commitment on handing over the list.

In the press conference, CJP co-convenor Saurav Das and Legal Affairs Lead Ratna Singh alleged that the government is trying to deceive the youth of the country after ending the movement.

What were the main promises?

CJP leaders clarified that the government had made two main promises to them in the joint press conference:

  • Case Withdrawal: All FIRs registered against students and protesters during the agitation will be immediately withdrawn or canceled and no punitive action will be taken against anyone in future.
  • Compensation to victims: Respectable compensation will be given to the families of students who lost their lives in the controversy to NEET exam.

The party says that the government's negotiating team has not yet given any formal written assurance regarding the progress made on these promises.

National Executive meeting on 24th August

In view of these circumstances, the meeting of the National Working Committee of Cockroach Janata Party has been called on 24th August. In this meeting the current situation will be reviewed and further strategy will be decided. The party has said that all necessary steps will be taken to fulfill the promises, which also includes starting a nationwide movement again.

CJP said that Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation was his first success, but the fight will continue until every promise made to the youth is fulfilled. CJP has appealed to the students, youth and its workers across the country to be ready for the decisions on August 24.
