On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet for the 25th round of ‘Special Representatives’ (SR) talks on the India-China border dispute. Doval and Wang work as ‘special representatives’. This arrangement was started in 2003, the purpose of which was to resolve the 3,488 km long border dispute between the two countries.

Due to the clash in Galwan Valley in 2020 and the subsequent tense situation in eastern Ladakh, these talks were stalled for almost five years. The talks resumed in December 2024, when the 23rd round took place in Beijing. After this, the 24th round was held in New Delhi in August last year.

Although Beijing and New Delhi have not officially confirmed Chinese President Xi’s attendance, officials on both sides are expecting him to attend. His visit could pave the way for a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the summit.
