Uttarakhand to speed up the implementation of ropeway projects being planned in the state. This was decided at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wherein the progress made in relation to some of the proposed projects as per Parvatmala Scheme was examined.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami further asked the officials to find out the causes of delay in projects and fix fresh timelines where necessary. Efforts should be made, he added, to push projects from paper to ground without any delay.
At the meeting, efforts were made to expedite work relating to 50 proposed ropeway projects under Parvatmala Scheme. Unnecessary delay in projects was not desired, Dhami stated. Officials were asked to expedite the remaining procedures within the prescribed period of time.
In addition to this, the deliberations held in the meeting included some major ropeways which have been planned for Uttarakhand. Some of the major ropeways which were discussed include Sonprayag-Kedarnath, Tanakpur-Purnagiri, Kathgodam-Nainital, Govindghat-Hemkund Sahib, Kanakchauri-Kartik Swami, Dehradun-Mussoorie and Janki Chatti ropeway projects.
The officials provided information on the status of these projects, process involved and measures adopted for the implementation of the same to the Chief Minister.
The proposed ropeway projects of Haridwar-Rishikesh were also discussed in this meeting. He told the officials to fast-track the process for these proposals.
Apart from this, the performance of Uttarakhand Ropeway Development Limited and preparation of future ropeway projects was also discussed in this meeting.
He asked the officials that the planning of ropeways should not only consider construction. There should be parking facility too.eady approved in principle but yet not progressed further were also examined in the meeting.
The idea here is to ensure that the tourist as well as local population does not have to face any issues of parking once the ropeways become operational. It was made clear to the officials that such infrastructure needs to be considered right from the planning stage itself.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of simplification of licensing and approvals for ropeways, especially to facilitate private sector investment.
He emphasized the need for greater collaboration with the investor community and a clear strategy in order to bring more such projects into existence via the Public Private Partnership mode.
