In Tamil Nadu politics, political rhetoric has suddenly intensified regarding actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay i.e. 'Thalapathy Vijay'. Leaders of Vijay's political party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) are seeing him as the next Prime Minister of the country in the future.

After top party leaders described Vijay as the next PM of the country, Congress has expressed strong objection and taunted on this claim. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram clarified that to become the Prime Minister of the country, it is mandatory for any leader or alliance to have the support of at least 272 MPs in the Lok Sabha.

What did Congress MP Karti Chidambaram say?

Responding to TVK projecting Vijay as the prime ministerial candidate, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said that the figure of 272 MPs is required to become the Prime Minister of India. According to him, if any political party or alliance has the support of 272 MPs, then the leader of that alliance can become the Prime Minister of the country.

Karti Chidambaram further taunted that TVK is a political party centered around a big film star. In such a situation, the party is free to have its own dreams, hopes and ambitions regarding its leader. This statement of the Congress leader is being seen as a reply to TVK's claim that party leaders had projected Vijay as the next Prime Minister of the country.

Congress targets Vijay's politics

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Congress chief Manickam Tagore had also commented on the working style of TVK and Vijay. He had said that TVK leaders have still not come out of the 'fan club' mentality and it is not easy to change such thinking suddenly.

Tagore said that everyone is well aware of the current political situation in the country. Targeting the central government and BJP, he alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are trying to reduce the powers of the opposition. He made it clear that Congress is fighting strongly against BJP, but there is a huge difference in the political style of both the parties.

Congress again repeated Rahul Gandhi's name

Here, the Congress Party is continuously presenting Rahul Gandhi as its main face for the post of Prime Minister. Manickam Tagore, while repeating the name of Rahul Gandhi, had also clarified the old position of Congress regarding NEET exam in Tamil Nadu.

Tagore had said that the state government should have full authority to decide how technical and medical examinations should be conducted there. He claimed that Rahul Gandhi had promised to exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET in the 2019 Congress manifesto. According to him, Rahul Gandhi had promised that relief would be given to the state as soon as the government is formed at the Center and the 12th exam results should be the basis for admission in medical colleges.

TVK leaders told Vijay to be the next Prime Minister

On the other hand, big statements are continuously coming out from TVK leaders regarding making Vijay the face of the post of Prime Minister. M. Sarathkumar, a minister in the Tamil Nadu government, even declared Vijay as the next Prime Minister of India. He had said that Vijay is the Chief Minister in the hearts of party workers as well as in St. George Fort and he will definitely become the next Prime Minister of the country.

Demand raised to make PM from South India

Another prominent leader of TVK, Adhav Arjun, has also strongly advocated South India's claim for the post of Prime Minister. He had said that in the current political system, the Prime Minister is elected only when five or six states of North India come together.

Emphasizing the need to change this old system, he said that in future the Prime Minister of the country should be elected from the southern states, especially Tamil Nadu. After Thalapathy Vijay was declared the face of PM post and Congress put forward the name of Rahul Gandhi, this issue seems to be heating up rapidly in the politics of Tamil Nadu.
