Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign Yankuba Minteh, with another offer expected shortly.

The Reds are set to make a third bid for Yankuba Minteh, while the Brighton player waits to finalise personal terms.

Liverpool have been linked this summer with names such as Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, but reports of their interest in Minteh surfaced last week, with the player's camp brushing those claims aside as “old news”.

Now, though, the Merseyside club are expected to increase their proposal for the Gambian, who did not feature in Brighton's opening fixture of the season at the weekend despite the side sitting top of the table, as they continue their search for a game-changing wide attacker.

According to journalist Foday Manneh in a post on X, formerly Twitter, a third bid is anticipated for Minteh, with the Reds said to be “ready to go with an improved and convincing offer”.

Manneh also says Minteh is “[waiting] to formalise personal terms” once the two clubs agree a fee, while Sport Witness reports that £70 million should be enough for the Seagulls to accept.

Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle United in 2024 and has made 66 league appearances across the last two campaigns for Albion, becoming a major success at the Amex while operating on one flank opposite Kaoru Mitoma on the other side.

The BBC reported that his initial transfer fee to the Sussex club was £30m, with the move approved alongside Elliot Anderson's sale to Nottingham Forest so that Newcastle could comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

A sale at £70m would amount to a profit of more than double Brighton's outlay, although the club are not especially in need of funds, having reportedly rejected offers of more than £90m for Mitoma last year.

It was widely reported last Thursday that Brighton had turned down a £50m bid for the winger, and a second offer was also rejected over the weekend.

FourFourTwo understands that Minteh is very keen on a move to one of Europe's elite clubs and that personal terms are not expected to be a problem, although he has not yet pushed for a transfer.

Liverpool could yet sign Barcola as well as Minteh before the transfer window shuts, with Victor Munoz also already secured in attack, and the World Cup winner made his debut for the Reds over the weekend.

Meanwhile, youngster Rio Ngumoha started Andoni Iraola's first match as manager on the right wing, with Minteh viewed as a more natural option for that position.

According to Transfermarkt, Minteh is valued at €45m. Liverpool face Forest when Premier League action resumes next week.
