Antonio Vergara, Pio Esposito and Adrien Rabiot have emerged as the highest-rated performers in Serie A over the opening weekend of the 2026-27 season, according to media assessments in Italy. Here is the list of the top 10 standout players from the matches played on Saturday and Sunday.
The first eight fixtures of the 2026-27 Serie A campaign were completed across Saturday and Sunday evening. Bologna v Lazio is scheduled for Monday evening at 17.30 BST, while Roma v Fiorentina will follow at 19.45 BST. The full rankings are set to be updated on Tuesday once those matches are played.
Defending champions Inter began their title defence in emphatic fashion, beating Monza 4-1 at San Siro on Friday evening. The goals came from Hakan Calhanoglu, Piotr Zielinski, Esposito and Yann Bisseck. Esposito and Calhanoglu both make the top 10 list based on average ratings in the Italian press, while Bisseck and Andy Diouf also delivered strong performances.
Napoli had to wait until late in the game to seal a 2-0 away win over Genoa in their first Serie A outing under new head coach Massimiliano Allegri. Both of Napoli’s scorers, Vergara and Kevin De Bruyne, are included among the 10 highest-rated players of the weekend.
The top three is rounded off by Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who came off the bench and helped turn the match in a 2-1 away victory over Torino on Sunday evening. He is joined on the list by fellow goalscorer Alphadjo Cisse.
