Former Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has made a big revelation regarding the arrival of Indian drones in the sensitive Kirana Hills area of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. During Operation Sindoor, reports had come out that the Indian Air Force had also attacked Pakistan's nuclear facility Kirana Hills. Anil Chauhan has told that a loitering munition of the Indian Air Force, i.e. a drone that can hover in the area for some time while searching for the target, had hit Kirana Hills.
Anil Chauhan also clarified that it was not an attack targeting Kirana Hills. According to him, the drone was searching for a radar in that area and the drone had run out of fuel. For this reason the drone collided with Kiran Hills. He made it clear that India had no plans to attack in that area.
General Anil Chauhan said that during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army had sent several loitering munitions to target radars in and around Sargodha. Kirana Hills is located about 10 kilometers north of Sargodha. The drone used in these was the Harop drone designed in Israel. This type of drone is used to search for a specific target and attack it when needed. They can hover in the area for about two hours, but if they do not find any target then they come back and fall somewhere. After this it can fall at any place.
The location of Kirana Hills is considered very strategic for Pakistan. This area is also considered very sensitive because it has been an area to Pakistan's nuclear program. According to reports, this area is connected to Pakistan's nuclear activities and military establishments. The facility built by the Pakistan Army in Kirana Hills has been designed with a multi-layered defense system and it is believed that Pakistan has hidden nuclear weapons at this place.
Kirana Hills is only 20 kilometers by road from Sargodha Airport, Pakistan and 75 kilometers from Kushab Nuclear Plant. In Khushab, 200 kilometers south of Islamabad, there are four heavy water reactors dedicated to the production of weapons-grade plutonium, the World Nuclear Association wrote in a report.
