Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Savio from Manchester City in a transfer worth £75 million, with a further £10 million possible in add-ons.

The Brazil international is the latest player to join Roberto De Zerbi’s squad during what has been a busy summer for the club.

Savio said: “It has taken some time but I am very happy to be here.

“It is a fantastic opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.

“As soon as I spoke to the Head Coach, I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level, and I believe we can do that together, as a team.”

Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange said the club had been monitoring the winger for a while and feels he will suit De Zerbi’s side well.

“Savio is someone who has been on our radar for some time and I am delighted that he is now a Tottenham Hotspur player,” Lange said.

“He has already demonstrated his quality at the highest level, and we believe his ability, style and mentality will be an excellent fit for the squad we are building here.”

De Zerbi is also looking forward to working with the 22-year-old, highlighting his creativity and his willingness to take on defenders.

“Savio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide areas,” he said.

“He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.

“We are very pleased to have him with us, and I am looking forward to working with him, helping him continue to grow and seeing him bring his personality to the team.”

Spurs are also expected to strengthen their attack further before the transfer window closes, having agreed a deal to sign Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.

They also remain interested in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, although they are facing competition from Manchester City.
