New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed Anthony Andrews as the assistant coach of the India Under-17 women's national team while Joakim Alexandersson will continue as the head coach. Andrews, who also serves as the head coach of East Bengal FC, will shoulder dual responsibilities for both East Bengal club and country.
“It is a huge honor and privilege to be a part of the India Under-17 women's national team,” Andrews said. I am grateful to AIFF for showing confidence and trust in me. I am extremely excited about this opportunity to contribute to the development of the next generation of Indian footballers. ''
Andrews, the reigning Indian Women's League (IWL) champion with East Bengal, is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the league. He has won four IWL titles so far. Under his guidance, Gokulam Kerala FC won two consecutive IWL titles in 2021-22 and 2022-23. After this he led East Bengal FC to two consecutive championships in 2024-25 and 2025-26. Andrews is the only coach to have won more than one IWL title.
