Tottenham have wrapped up the signing of Omar Marmoush, but their work in the transfer market is not over yet.

Tottenham Hotspur remain on the lookout for another striker, with one Bundesliga forward now in their sights.

This has been Tottenham's busiest summer in N17 for quite some time, with Jan Paul van Hecke, Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes and Savio arriving for a combined £300 million, while Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have both joined on free transfers.

Even with Tottenham now close to formally unveiling Omar Marmoush, their transfer activity is still not finished, with another Bundesliga marksman having been identified as a target.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Spurs are interested in Freiburg striker Igor Matanovic, with Manchester United also in the race.

Although the Lilywhites have already secured Marmoush, adding him to an attacking group that also features Richarlison and Dominic Solanke, they are reportedly still keen on bringing in Croatian forward Matanovic — a development that is making Fiorentina's chase for the striker more difficult.

To add another layer to the story, Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici is now with Viola, as the North London club try to get the better of a familiar figure from the Daniel Levy era.

Spurs and Paratici are still thought to share a good relationship, however, and they even conducted business this summer when Fiorentina signed defensive flop Radu Dragusin on loan.

As relayed by Sport Witness, “The Italian side believe Matanovic is the heir to Mario Mandzukic for the Croatian national team,” because of his outstanding aerial ability — something Solanke provides a little more of than either Richarlison or Marmoush.

Manchester United are also considering the 23-year-old as a way to strengthen their attacking depth, although their interest could depend on whether Joshua Zirkzee remains a Red Devil by the close of the transfer window.

Spurs were beaten 3-0 by Brentford at the weekend, but bounced back last night with a 5-1 win over Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup third round, as manager Roberto De Zerbi attempts to reverse a miserable two-year spell in North London that has seen the club finish 17th in back-to-back seasons.

Major spending in the transfer market has been balanced by significant outgoing deals, with Cristian Romero, Djed Spence and Luka Vuskovic each bringing in more than £30m in transfer fees.

Tottenham have also been active in tying down important members of the squad, with Ben Davies, Pedro Porro, Antonin Kinsky and Micky van de Ven all handed lucrative new contracts.

According to Transfermarkt, Matanovic is valued at €22m. Tottenham return to Premier League action next weekend against Newcastle United.
