Promoted Premier League club Hull City FC have made a verbal bid worth €35 million to sign Malick Fofana, 21, from Lyon, according to Foot Mercato. The Belgium international winger had earlier indicated that he would be open to staying longer with Lyon if the club qualified for the Champions League. However, Lyon were beaten by Fenerbahçe at the final hurdle in the play-offs. Without the financial boost that comes with Champions League football, the cash-strapped French side are now expected to sell some of their most valuable assets, with Fofana among the leading candidates to leave.

Foot Mercato reports that Hull City, who began their Premier League campaign with an emphatic 2-0 home victory over Manchester United, have already held talks with Fofana over video call in order to outline the club’s project to him. Serie A side AS Roma, who have secured a place in the Champions League group stage, already have an agreement on personal terms with Fofana. A number of other unnamed clubs are also said to remain in the running for the 21-year-old winger.
