David Moyes has confirmed that Nottingham Forest have submitted an offer for Harrison Armstrong, although he said he does not know if the bid will be accepted.

Armstrong started Everton’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth and turned in an impressive display despite the uncertainty over his future, with Moyes highlighting the young midfielder’s industry.

“I know that there’s been an offer so apart from that I don’t really think there’s much else,” Moyes said.

“It’s not really a question for just now, it will be a club decision.”

Moyes was unwilling to go too deeply into the 19-year-old’s situation, but he was happy with the player’s contribution after Armstrong played an important part in Everton taking a point.

“I don’t really want to talk too much about it to be honest but I’ll try and answer the question a little bit because I’m not going to give you a page full of Harrison Armstrong stuff,” he added.

“I thought Harrison played really well today. He did a lot of good work, ran out of legs a little bit later in the game, but it’s amazing the effort he puts in.”

Moyes repeated that Everton must strengthen their squad before the transfer window shuts, whether Armstrong remains at Goodison Park or not.

“Without losing anybody, which we obviously don’t want to do, we still need to add players to what we’ve got,” he said.

“I’ve been saying it for quite a while, I’ve been alluding to it, that we need to add.

“I think we’ve got some young, promising players, and we’ve got some things that are looking quite good.

“But even today, Hayden with his ankle, we just didn’t want to risk him too soon, and Jimmy we’ve had to bring back quicker than we wanted with his hernia, and I think it showed a bit today for Jimmy a little bit.

“We’re not that strong at the moment, squad wise.”

Moyes was also questioned about whether Everton could bring in a new right-back, but he was unable to provide any fresh information.

“I don’t know,” he said.

The Everton manager also had a message for the club’s supporters after some frustration was heard from the stands, including chants of “don’t sell Armstrong”.

“If I could say something to them, I’d say their manager is an Evertonian,” Moyes said.

“You always have to consider supporters,” he continued when asked whether Armstrong leaving could upset the fans. “They’re not always wrong.

“But then there’s also times where unfortunately I’ve had people at clubs who are really powerful and make difficult decisions. Decisions that are not always popular but sometimes they have to do it for different reasons.

“I’m sure the club will make what they think is the right one.”
