Barcelona are edging towards the completion of a major deal for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, with Hansi Flick keen to strengthen his attacking options at Spotify Camp Nou. The Brazil international is expected to travel to Spain soon to complete the final details of a transfer that would signal a notable change in the Gunners' forward setup.

Barcelona land cut-price agreement for Jesus

La Liga champions Barcelona have taken a firm step in the transfer market after agreeing terms with Arsenal for the signing of Jesus. The Catalan club switched their focus to the 29-year-old Brazilian after missing out on Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

As per transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Arsenal have now exchanged documents for the Gabriel Jesus transfer, an indication that the move has reached its closing stages.

Jesus is set to leave Emirates Stadium after four seasons, having arrived from Manchester City in 2022. Over the course of his spell under Mikel Arteta, the forward played 123 matches in all competitions, scored 32 goals and registered 22 assists. His exit comes at a stage when he had slipped down the pecking order in London, with Kai Havertz and new signing Viktor Gyokeres being preferred in the central striker position.

Jesus ready for medical

Jesus is expected to reach Barcelona tomorrow for his medical examinations before completing the remaining formalities and putting pen to paper with the Spanish giants. According to Romano, the 29-year-old will sign a contract that runs until June 2028, with an option to extend it for a further period.

The move opens a new phase in Jesus' career following his time at Arsenal, after he joined the north London side from Manchester City in 2022. The Brazilian forward made a strong start to life at the Emirates, but later found it difficult to maintain consistency and secure regular minutes during the latter part of his stay in north London.

Jesus' arrival at Spotify Camp Nou is being viewed as a tactical requirement for Hansi Flick, who has made clear the need for a natural centre-forward after the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. Reports indicate that the Brazilian striker will sign a two-year contract with the option of a third year, giving Barcelona an experienced and versatile player capable of operating anywhere across the front three.

Jesus is due to arrive at the private aviation terminal in Barcelona on Monday afternoon for a full medical check-up. If everything proceeds as expected, the official unveiling of the Brazil international will be held on Tuesday.
