The Premier League transfer deadline has now passed, but business can still be done in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United States and several other markets.

The Premier League transfer window is shut, after a number of high-profile moves were completed in the final hours of Tuesday’s deadline day.

Clubs in England’s top flight can still sign free agents, but their window for buying players is closed. Around the world, however, several transfer windows are still open, most notably in Saudi Arabia.

The following football leagues are still able to register new signings, with the first upcoming deadline arriving at midnight in the United States of America.

Major League Soccer is currently on its deadline day, with clubs in the American league still able to do business in the market and complete club-to-club transfers.

In the past few hours, The Athletic reported that Houston Dynamo were finalising a loan move for Lyle Foster from Burnley, as MLS clubs try to strengthen before the deadline.

They also reported that Colorado Rapids have completed the signing of Morgan Whittaker from Middlesbrough for a club-record fee in a deal worth more than $10 million.

Unlike its American counterpart, the Saudi Pro League still has more than a month remaining before its transfer window closes, with the deadline set for October 12.

Transfers into the league have surged in recent times following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr in January 2023. The competition’s financial power is increasingly attracting players, with many of the world’s highest-paid footballers now based in Saudi Arabia.

Ollie Watkins and Crysensio Summerville are two Premier League players who swapped competition for money this summer — the former Aston Villa striker and the Dutchman both joined Al-Hilal.

Turkey’s top division is another league that has been in the spotlight lately, but perhaps never more than when the departing Liverpool legend joined Trabzonspor in early August.

As a free agent, the Egyptian chose not to join the trio of Istanbul clubs that are viewed as the strongest contenders for future Super Lig titles, despite having come close to signing for Besiktas a few weeks earlier.

Notable transfers in this window include Romelu Lukaku to Fenerbahce, Rafael Leao to Galatasaray, Leandro Trossard to Besiktas, and possibly Richarlison to Trabzonspor.

The deadline is approaching even faster in Turkey, where the window shuts on Friday, September 4.

Time is moving even more quickly in Scotland, with the Scottish Premiership transfer deadline set for Thursday, September 3 at 5pm BST.

Celtic recently brought in Shumaira Mheuka on a season-long loan from Chelsea, just hours after Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone arrived on a loan of the same duration.

Earlier still, the Eredivisie transfer window will close at midnight on September 2, while Portugal’s top flight will remain open for club-to-club transfers until September 15.

In Mexico and Brazil, both leagues have a deadline of September 11, while the Swiss Super League transfer window will close on September 8.
