Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Martin Odegaard’s growing belief in front of goal after the club captain struck to hand his team a 1-0 Champions League win over Napoli.
Odegaard delivered the key moment of the match to earn all three points for the Gunners, with Arteta particularly pleased by the midfielder’s readiness to take charge in decisive situations.
“That’s what we need, the players with that mindset to decide a game and to play with that personality,” Arteta said.
“Keep persisting, keep taking chances and risks.”
The Arsenal boss also said Odegaard is finding himself in dangerous scoring areas far more often now – and has the belief to make those moments count.
“He’s getting into those positions much more in recent games and now you feel he has that emotional state where he knows the ball can go in,” Arteta added.
“And he scored an incredible goal tonight.”
