The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released a short notification for the recruitment of paramedical staff (2026). According to the notification, recruitment will be conducted for a total of 560 posts. The online application process for these positions will commence on September 15, 2026.

There is good news for candidates preparing for government jobs in paramedical roles within the Railways. The Railway Recruitment Board has issued a short notification for paramedical staff recruitment (2026). Under notification number 05-2026, recruitment will be carried out for a total of 560 posts. The online application process will begin on September 15, 2026, and candidates will be able to apply until October 14, 2026. However, the detailed notification—which will contain comprehensive information regarding the posts, exam pattern, and other conditions—has not yet been released.

Recruitment Across 9 Paramedical Categories

Various paramedical posts in the Railways will be filled through this RRB recruitment drive. The short notice lists positions such as Nursing Superintendent, Pharmacist, Health and Malaria Inspector, Lab Assistant, Radiographer/X-Ray Technician, ECG Technician, Dialysis Technician, Optometrist, and Audiologist & Speech Therapist. These posts fall under different pay levels: Nursing Superintendent (Level-7), Pharmacist (Level-5), Health and Malaria Inspector (Level-6), and Lab Assistant (Level-3). Radiographer/X-Ray Technician falls under Level-5; ECG Technician and Optometrist under Level-4; and Dialysis Technician under Level-6.

Forms Can Be Filled Starting September 15

Online applications for the RRB Paramedical Recruitment 2026 can be submitted from September 15 to October 14, 2026. Applications can be filed via the official RRB application portal or the respective regional RRB websites. Candidates will be required to enter personal details, educational qualifications, and post-specific information during the application process. Additionally, they must upload necessary documents—including a photograph and signature—in the prescribed format. The application fee can also be paid online.

What is the application fee?

According to the information available in the short notice, the application fee is ₹500 for OBC and EWS candidates. The fee is set at ₹250 for SC, ST, EBC, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, and minority candidates. A portion of the fee will be refunded subject to specific conditions after the candidate appears for the Computer-Based Test (CBT). Provisions indicate a refund of up to ₹400 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates, and up to ₹250 for other categories.

Age Limit and Educational Qualifications

The minimum age for RRB Paramedical recruitment is 18 years, and the maximum is 40 years. Age will be calculated as of January 1, 2027. Reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per the rules. Regarding qualifications: GNM or B.Sc. Nursing is required for Nursing Superintendent; a degree or diploma in Pharmacy for Pharmacist; and a diploma in the relevant subject for Radiographer/X-Ray Technician. For Health and Malaria Inspector, a B.Sc. with Chemistry and a one-year Health/Sanitary Inspector diploma are required, while a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology is required for Lab Assistant.

Selection Process in Three Stages

Candidates for the paramedical recruitment will be selected through a Computer-Based Test (CBT), document verification, and a medical test. Final selection will be based on merit. The exam date has not yet been announced; candidates are also currently awaiting the detailed notification.
