New Delhi: Apple's first foldable smartphone, iPhone Duo, has created a buzz in India, but its price tag has surprised many buyers. The premium device's top-end variant with 2TB storage is priced at around Rs 4.5 lakh, while the base model comes at nearly Rs 3 lakh.

At this price point, the iPhone Duo enters the luxury segment, where buyers are not just comparing it with other smartphones but also with cars, bikes, gold and travel experiences.

Rs 4.5 Lakh iPhone Duo vs A New Car

For nearly the same amount as Apple's high-end foldable iPhone, buyers can consider purchasing a practical four-wheeler.

A compact car like the Tata Tiago, priced around Rs 4.77 lakh (ex-showroom), comes close to the cost of the premium iPhone Duo. While the iPhone offers cutting-edge technology and exclusivity, a car provides long-term utility for daily travel.

Performance Bike With Extra Savings

For automobile enthusiasts, the iPhone Duo's price can also bring home a powerful motorcycle.

A performance bike like the KTM 390 Duke, priced around Rs 3 lakh, can be purchased while still leaving money for accessories, modifications or riding gear.

Similarly, a Royal Enfield 450 priced around Rs 3 lakh can also be an option, with enough budget remaining for other gadgets or upgrades.

Gold Investment Instead of a Smartphone

Another alternative is investing the same amount in gold.

With around Rs 4.5-5 lakh, buyers can purchase a significant quantity of gold jewelery or bullion, which may hold value over time. Unlike smartphones that generally depreciate after purchase, gold is considered a traditional asset.

International Holiday for Two

The same budget can also fund a memorable international vacation.

A well-planned trip to destinations such as Dubai, Thailand or other popular locations can be arranged for two people within a budget of around Rs 5 lakh, depending on travel dates, accommodation and activities.

Luxury Tech or Long-Term Value?

The iPhone Duo is aimed at consumers who want premium design, advanced technology and the exclusivity associated with Apple's latest innovations.

However, its price has sparked a debate among buyers about whether spending nearly Rs 5 lakh on a smartphone makes sense when the same money can provide practical assets, experiences or investments.

For Apple fans and technology enthusiasts, the iPhone Duo may represent the future of smartphones. For others, the same amount opens the door to several more tangible choices.
