Former Juventus and Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado has officially completed an emotional return to Colombia after signing for Millonarios on Thursday. The 38-year-old veteran heads back to his homeland following an outstanding 17-season career in Europe, putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until June 2027 with the Bogota-based domestic giants.

The experienced winger has now secured his long-awaited homecoming.

Colombian heavyweights Millonarios officially announced Cuadrado's arrival on a free transfer on Thursday. The move brings the curtain down on the winger's 17-season spell in European football, during which he represented eight different clubs. The 38-year-old now returns to his country to play for Colombia's second-most successful club, having begun his professional journey with Independiente Medellin.

The club celebrated the arrival of an iconic signing.

Millonarios did not reveal the financial terms of the agreement while welcoming the player to the capital, although Transfermarkt reports that his contract will run until June 2027. Marking the return of the national team icon to the domestic top division, the club said in a statement: "After appearing on some of the biggest stages in world football, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado returns to Colombia to wear the Blue shirt and begin a new chapter of his career with Millonarios."

His decorated career has stretched across continents.

Since moving overseas to join Udinese in the summer of 2009, Cuadrado built a glittering career that included a Premier League title with Chelsea and five Serie A crowns during seven years at Juventus. Along with spells at Lecce, Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Atalanta and Pisa, he also established himself as a mainstay for his country with 116 caps and 11 goals. Appearances at two World Cups and five Copa America tournaments have further underlined his place as one of Colombia's most decorated footballers.

The push for domestic honours now begins.
