A statement given by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal in Goa has also increased the stir in Delhi politics. Kejriwal said that only BJP voters vote for Aam Aadmi Party. Congress immediately made his statement a political issue and presented it as support for its old allegations. Congress hit back at Kejriwal's statement and said that the AAP convenor himself has accepted what the Congress has been saying for a long time. Congress alleged that Kejriwal's statement confirms that the Aam Aadmi Party works as the 'B team' of the BJP.

'Voters angry with BJP choose AAP and not Congress'

During a press conference in Goa on Sunday, Arvind Kejriwal was trying to refute the narrative in which the Aam Aadmi Party is accused of dividing the opposition votes and thereby benefiting the BJP. Kejriwal, on the contrary, claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party mainly gets the support of pro-BJP voters. Giving the example of the last Assembly and Lok Sabha elections of Delhi, he said that a voter who is angry with the BJP does not vote for the Congress, rather such voters accept the Aam Aadmi Party.

'Vote for BJP in Lok Sabha, AAP in Assembly'

Kejriwal gave the example of Delhi elections to explain his point. He claimed that about 20 percent of the voters who voted for BJP in the Lok Sabha elections are with the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly elections. His argument was that the voter who is angry against BJP chooses Aam Aadmi Party as an alternative instead of going towards Congress. On this basis, he termed the narrative that BJP would benefit from division of opposition votes as wrong.

Congress got a 'new narrative'

Now many Congress leaders have made Kejriwal's statement a political weapon against the Aam Aadmi Party. Congress leaders allege that Kejriwal's statement gives strength to his old claim that Aam Aadmi Party works in the interest of BJP and RSS. Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav described Kejriwal's statement as confirmation of Congress's claim. Yadav shared Kejriwal's statement on social media and targeted him. Supriya Shrinet said- 'Small recharge of RSS'

Congress social media chief Supriya Shrinet also targeted Kejriwal on the basis of his statement. He said that the current fight in the country is not just between political parties, but between two ideologies. Shrinate questioned why people with BJP ideology are so comfortable with Aam Aadmi Party. He also sarcastically called Kejriwal a 'small recharge of RSS'.

Pawan Kheda said- 'Showed honesty for the first time'

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera also reacted to Kejriwal's statement. He said that Kejriwal showed honesty for the first time and admitted that there is not much difference between him and BJP. Speaking to the media, Khera said that the former Chief Minister of Delhi has said that the person who votes for BJP but does not want to vote for it, will vote for Aam Aadmi Party. Based on this statement, Kheda said that Kejriwal has accepted this for the first time.

AAP hit back

Amidst the attacks by Congress, Aam Aadmi Party also hit back. Party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar, reacting to the statement of Congress social media chief Supriya Srinet, said that the ideology of Congress is limited only to social media and its impact is not visible on the ground. Priyanka Kakkar said that the ideology of Congress was not visible on the ground in Bihar, Bengal and Delhi. He also took a dig at Congress while mentioning Punjab. He said that Aam Aadmi Party has to work for those who call Rahul Gandhi 'Pappu' and also for those who call Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Gappu'. He said that the country is made up of all the people. In this way, AAP, while responding to Congress's 'B Team' attack, described its politics as one that works for all classes and people with different views.
