LOS ANGELES: Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan is set to take the stage at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards for the ceremony’s emotional In Memoriam segment, where he will honour members of the television industry who have died over the past year.

Kahan will perform Simon & Garfunkel’s iconic song “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the tribute at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, September 14, 2026. His appearance adds another major musical moment to this year’s ceremony and is expected to be one of the evening’s most emotional highlights.

Known for his folk-pop style and songs including “Stick Season,” Kahan has become one of the most prominent singer-songwriters of his generation. His selection for the In Memoriam segment will see him bring his distinctive musical style to one of the Emmys’ most significant traditions.

The choice of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is particularly appropriate for the tribute. Originally released by Simon & Garfunkel in 1970, the song has remained widely recognised for its themes of comfort, compassion, support and strength during difficult times. The 2026 Emmys will ultimately celebrate the year’s most successful television programmes, performers and creative teams. However, Kahan’s role will be centred on remembrance rather than competition.
